JEE Over. Now What? Solutions, Marks, Cutoff and more...

Wuhu!! Yippeee!! Hooray!!

Now that you have given your JEE,  (And are about to become JEEnius) we would love to know how it feels on the other side of JEE. Are you ecstatic? Or Fruusstt(Frustrated in KGPian lingo).
Or unsure how to feel. I am sure many of you have this feeling of  "Bas 1  minute aur milta to wo walaa question solve ho jaata yaaar". Aint it so?

Also we wanna hear about how the paper was.
From "It was tough", " Lengthy"
To
"Too easy"

Share everything.

Then share how did it go for you.
Was it how you expected it to be?

And then the most important question. NOW WHAT?
Exactly. Thats what I asked myself  right after the paper. We will update with that in a short while

Regarding the solutions. We will update the site with the solutions as soon as we lay our hands on them.

Psst....
"Now the most important thing. I was thinking of talking to a few of our Profs and ask them if they can provide us with some inside news about the papers cutoff this year etc. What say? Should we do that.I will decide on it after you people's responses."

JEE Tips: The Last Day before the Exam

[Mainak Jas is a freelance writer and author of the blog M(ainak) Jazz. He writes on issues related to IITKgp and the society in general]

I spent 3 years preparing for JEE and cracked it not once but twice. The second time - I secured a rank that was one-third my first attempt rank with one-third the preparation in my first attempt.

So how did I do it? What was the secret ingredient that was missing in my first attempt that got the magic going in the second?

Mindset

More than a test of analytical abilities, JEE is a test of nerves.

The D-Day could be anybody's day.
It could be your day.

You have to BELIEVE that it is going to be your day. Once you believe that it is going to be your day, there is no force in this world that can stop you from cracking the JEE and coming out with flying colours.

Being Alert

Get into an alert frame of mind. You wouldn't want to come out of the examinations regretting that you failed to read the instructions. Or that you could have solved the problem you didn't solve.

Go out for a Walk

Whenever someone asks me - What did you do on the day before the exam? I tell them this - I went for a walk with my father.

Avoid INACTIVITY and HYPERACTIVITY. They only increase anxiety. The best way to stay cool, calm and composed is to go out for a walk. It can do wonders tomorrow.

Avoid Caffeine

Caffeine increases the alertness levels. But it also increases anxiety.

Avoid coffee, cold drinks or anything that has high caffeine content.

Have normal food. Nothing extravagant. You wish to be in your mental and physical best - extravagant food will not help.

Prepare Well

I am not asking you take out your notes and start revising. That part of your preparation is over.

Do what remains. Get your pen, pencil and eraser ready. Have backups. Check your admit card. Be sure of the examination venue. Start early tomorrow.

Have a good sleep

Do not try to wake up early. No use revising now. Having a good sleep will help you maintain an alert state of mind tomorrow.

Tomorrow

Do not fret. You know it is going to be your day. The Day of (Your Name). Reach the examination venue well before time. Go and check your room no and floor.

In the examination hall, follow the instructions of the invigilators. Read the instructions CAREFULLY before starting.

And remember, if you cannot solve a question - even Chintu/Montu cannot. It is all about maximizing your marks. No one gets all the questions right.

Tomorrow is going to be your day. You are going to rock JEE.

All the best.

7 last minute golden tips to crack the IIT-JEE

Just a few days to go for the IIT-JEE. Culmination of years of your preparation and hard work to realize, which for many is, the ultimate dream. To help you in these last few days, we bring to you 7golden tips and suggestions which would help you to get the maximum out of your efforts .

  1. Just Revise. This time is to be fully devoted to revision, it's too late now to start studying new topics and build fundamentals.
  2. Reinforce your strengths. Put in your efforts to build and reinforce your strengths to ensure that you get maximum benefit out of these and do not get bogged down with the areas you are weak in. Now is not the time to turn your weaknesses into strengths but strengths into perfection.
  3. Time to practice. Now you should be largely attempting previous year papers and full length tests. Practice as much as you can. Analyze each attempt with respect to time management, speed, accuracy, strengths, and weaknesses and build your test taking strategy.
  4. Tune your body clock. Get your body clock tuned in now, so that you are at your maximum alertness and efficiency during the hours of the day when the JEE is scheduled. Get your sleep, 7-8 hours are needed in the night, study during daytime and evening hours.
  5. Exam strategy. Though each of you would have by now practiced and formulated a strategy as to how you are going to attempt the JEE papers. We suggest one approach i.e. do not spend more than 1 hour on any subject. Usually mathematics needs more time, we suggest that you attack physics and chemistry papers first keeping in mind the 1 hour each limit and then attempt mathematics. Any time gained in physics and chemistry gets added to the 1 hour for mathematics portion. But in the end take your call on this.
  6. Visualize it all going right. Be positive, imagine yourself taking the test and feeling confident that you know all the information. Picture getting all of the answers right, and focus on how relaxed you feel. In last few weeks, most important factors are winning attitude, confidence and cool headedness
  7. Remember it's only an Examination. Though you must be passionate about your goal of getting into an IIT but remember there are many other opportunities, out of nearly 300000 aspirants only 4000 can get there, so work hard, give it your best shot but have alternative plans in place.

Awesome Luck!

Just Before JEE

Hi friends ,
JEEs approaching and most of you would like to know what to do in the final days. Well my most important advice would be to do what you feel like. By this i mean, if you feel like revising old syllabus , do it or else if you want to just chill out and relax , that's equally acceptable. Every JEE aspirant is well aware of the level of competition today . So i would like you all to keep that in mind and work accordingly.
  • I personally used the last 10-15 days to revise the old syllabus. I had prepared a time table for myself in which i had decided i would try to cover up some parts of the syllabus everyday such that i would have revised the entire syllabus 2-3 times before JEE.
  • I also dug up all my old mock question papers and solved them. Focus more on problem solving rather than the actual theory. My advice to serious aspirants would be to study smart but don't waste too much of your brain cells as you need them for the exam day.Studying smart means solving say 4 problems of level 8 difficulty rather than 8 of level 4 .
  • Also try doing the papers according to the actual JEE timings (time and duration) . This would help you to be at your peak at that time. I strongly advice against late nights at this time if you want to try this. So start sleeping early.
  • Also you can get question banks of old IIT-JEE problems and other related ones. Try getting the mock question banks of a reputed institute to ensure good quality of questions. Please avoid Brilliant's YG File. I personally found it too easy. FIITJEE's AITS papers are much better.

Ofcourse i understand that every person is different so please take these as suggestions and not compulsions . They worked for me but might not work for someone else.
I would like to end by sharing what my physics teacher told us.I found it extremely motivating and i hope you guys take it in the right spirit.

"Till the day of JEE think that there is no life beyond IIT. If you dont crack JEE , your finished, dead.

But at the day of the exam remember there is a life beyond IIT and there are more successful non IITians than IITians. "

Questions/queries/comments/&*%$#@ all welcome.
Cheers and All the Best !!.
